EPFL

Description

  • Modeling, Device Development, Materials and technology bricks development. EPFL will be active in the characterization of produced cells (WP3) and modules (WP4) and set-up characterization method to assess main losses (WP6). This will be accompanied by the development of a predictive model for degradation and light induced regeneration. The work of EPFL should ensure a fast feed-back loop for the implementation of the processes in the modules and solar cell lines.

With over 350 laboratories and research groups on campus, EPFL is one of Europe’s most innovative and productive scientific institutions. Ranked top 3 in Europe and top 19 worldwide (Shanghai ranking – ARWU Engineering/Technology and Computer Sciences), EPFL has attracted the best researchers in their fields.
The EPFL is centred on its three missions: teaching, research and technology transfer. EPFL has 338 faculty and more than 10000 students.
The PVlab, part of EPFL, has pioneered several new processes for photovoltaic devices devices, with important technology transfer to the industry.
EPFL has extensive experience with heterojunction devices, and full processing facilities for the fabrication of high-quality Si-based solar cells with many variation of layers and device structure possible.
Based on its experience, it has also developed full device and full module characterization and metrology.
